Thank you for joining us at United Way of the Greater Capital Region’s Annual Awards, as we celebrated our Campaign Champions, organizations, and individuals who invested more than $4M to support the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community. The evening paid tribute to our region’s most generous philanthropists with the induction of John & Lynda Kearney to the 2022 Class of the Capital Region Philanthropy Hall of Fame, and revealed Ben Williams from Connect Center as the 2022 Capital Region Philanthropist of the Year!

The Capital Region Philanthropy Hall of Fame is a tribute to the citizens who have given so much to improve the quality of life for others.
We are proud to announce and induct the fourth class of the Capital Region Philanthropy Hall of Fame—a lasting tribute to the citizens who have given so much to improve the quality of life for others. Joining an impressive class are John and his wife Lynda Kearney. John, who has over three decades as a Capital Region community volunteer and labor leader, has served on various boards including an impressive 20 years on the board of United Way of the Greater Capital Region.
Capital Region Philanthropist of the Year

This award is chosen through a community-driven selection process to recognize the extraordinary generosity of an individual who has made a lasting impact in the Capital Region. This award recognizes the achievements and contributions of an individual who has given their time, talent, and treasure to positively impact our community. This honor will be awarded to an individual who has made a lasting impact in the Capital Region by:
- Contributing a generous donation(s) to an organization(s) or cause(s);
- Going above and beyond as a volunteer with an organization(s);
- Leading or establishing a non-profit organization that is making a significant difference in our

Ben Williams is the Executive Director of the Connect Center, providing mentorship and youth development programs to allow students to explore their passions, talents, and eventually a career path.
