Yolanda Kirby is a dedicated health care leader, community and systems change advocate based in Albany, NY, with a deep commitment to advancing health equity, maternal health, and community collaboration. As the Associate Director of Health Initiatives & Community Engagement at United Way of the Greater Capital Region, she leads cross-sector efforts to address the Social Determinants of Health, oversee strategic health-focused investments, and connect community organizations with the resources needed to thrive. 

Yolanda leads innovative initiatives that bridge healthcare, philanthropy, and community resources. In her role, Yolanda also manages 2-1-1, a vital referral network that connects individuals and families to social care resources across the region. She also oversees a volunteer portal that links community members to meaningful volunteer opportunities, amplifying the power of people and partnerships to create sustainable change. 

Yolanda plays a central role in the implementation of Jubilant Birth Albany (JBA), the Capital Region’s first direct cash program that provides monthly, no-strings-attached cash to pregnant individuals to reduce financial stress, connects families with birthing resources and other community services to improve maternal and infant health outcomes.  

In addition, Yolanda serves on the Boards of Directors for Grassroot Givers and Mom Starts Here, where she champions culturally responsive, community-rooted supports for all residents, with a special focus on parents and babies. 

Yolanda’s experience spans nursing, public health, philanthropy, and healthcare reform. She is known for her talent in convening diverse voices, aligning resources, and turning vision into action. Her career reflects a steadfast belief in the power of community by her commitment to lifting community voice, expanding equitable access to care, and designing interventions that recognize the dignity and deservedness of all.
