Danny Dollar Makes Cents

United Way of the Greater Capital Region (UWGCR) believes in helping families and individuals forge their path toward financial stability. The Danny Dollar Academy is an evidence-based financial literacy program co-developed by children's book author and motivational speaker Ty Allan Jackson.

Based on Jackson's best-selling book, Danny Dollar Millionaire Extraordinaire - The Lemonade Escapade, the Danny Dollar Academy teaches children in grades three through five about financial literacy and entrepreneurship. The program is built on the premise that people who learn these valuable skills at a young age are more likely to be financially stable as adults.

Here in the Capital Region, the most recent United For ALICE report found that 41 percent of individuals and families don't earn enough to make ends meet. As we fight to build a more equitable Capital Region, United Way is proud to support programs like the Danny Dollar Academy that give children and their families the tools they need to thrive. Below we've compiled a few statistics that highlight the need for financial literacy programs in our community.
