On the Passing of United Way Board Member Carm Basile

United Way of the Greater Capital Region mourns the passing of longtime board member Carm Basile, whose leadership and dedication helped shape the organization and strengthen the community.

Basile served on the United Way board for more than a decade, joining in 2012. He was named board chair in 2019 and led the organization for four years, including during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are heartbroken by the passing of our beloved friend, mentor, and United Way board member, Carm Basile. Carm embodied the very best of our community, both through his professional achievements and in the relationships he developed throughout his life,” said Peter Gannon, President and CEO of United Way of the Greater Capital Region. “On a personal level, Carm was a trusted advisor, a generous mentor, and a dear friend. He leaves behind an immeasurable void. Carm was deeply involved in the causes he cared about, and we have been fortunate to have him as a friend and supporter of United Way. The Capital Region is stronger because of his leadership and his contributions will be felt for generations to come. Our prayers remain with his family and friends at this time as they mourn this difficult loss.”
