As Chief Financial Officer for United Way of the Greater Capital Region, David Barron leads the Finance/Operations team. David is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
David came to United Way in Sept 2023 and possesses over 30 years of experience in Finance and Accounting in both Public and Private organizations in the Capital Region. Prior to United Way, David spent 17 years at Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany as CFO. Before that, David spent 2 years at Energy Answers Corporation and 15 years at Sysco Food Services – Albany in similar roles. David attended LaSalle Institute in Troy, then Siena College for his undergraduate degree in accounting, then The College of St Rose for his MBA.
David enjoys working with people and numbers, especially in the latter part of his working career by helping others and giving back to the community – both of which align well with United Way’s mission.
Outside of work, David enjoys golf, pinochle, collecting baseball cards, and spending time with his loved ones. David resides in his hometown of Watervliet.
