The 75th Royal Tulip Ball

This year we are very excited to be celebrating the 75th Royal Tulip Ball on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the NYS Museum. We are thrilled to welcome a delegation from our sister City Nijmegen, Netherlands, as we highlight the rich tradition that this weekend has been over the last 75 years.

The Royal Tulip Ball is the highlight of the widely anticipated Tulip Festival weekend. For 75 years, Albany has hosted this celebration of our rich history and tradition with a three-day event featuring the annual street scrubbing, music, arts, and crafts festival attended by thousands in the historic Washington Park and the Royal Tulip Ball.

About the Capital City Fund

The Capital City Fund was created in 2014 by Mayor Kathy Sheehan, as a way to help nonprofit organizations better serve the people of Albany with effective, innovative programs and services.

Grants are awarded in the following areas:

Community/Cultural: programs and services that involve a direct benefit to residents, such as the enhancement of a park or the sponsoring of a parade or community event

Arts: programs that involve any creative expression, such as music, dance exhibits, or public art projects

Educational: learning opportunities for youth and/or adults

Caring for and appropriately recognizing our Veterans is also a matter that is very important to Mayor Kathy Sheehan. Since its inception, The Capital City Fund has been providing funding to Veterans organizations for the Veterans and Memorial Day Parades, the Gold Star Families luncheon, and the purchase of flags used to honor the resting places of Albany County veterans every Memorial Day.

Proceeds from the annual Tulip Ball benefit the Capital City Fund and independent donations are also welcome at any time.

We hope you will join us in contributing to this wonderful cause that allows the City of Albany to continue honoring our Veterans and providing grants to Albany-based nonprofit organizations for innovative programs and services in the areas of community and culture, arts, and education.
