Welcome Nicki Brown, Community Relations Manager

Nicki Brown joined United Way of the Greater Capital Region (UWGCR) as the Community Relations Manager.  Brown will lead and manage the planning, organization and implementation of corporate and employee giving for the annual workplace fundraising campaign.

Brown comes to UWGCR from the Albany Institute of History & Art, where she was the Director of Development. There, she focused on fund development to sustain the museum’s programming and managed all aspects of fundraising for the museum including individual giving, special events, and corporate and foundation relations. She also focused her work on community engagement and expanding the museum’s impact, with a firm belief that the arts are critical to the wellbeing of every community.

Prior to her role at the Albany Institute of History & Art, she managed all aspects of outreach as the Associate Director at Historic Albany Foundation, a small historic preservation nonprofit in Albany focused on advocacy and education. Nicki is active in the community as a current Board Member of Washington Park Conservancy, a board-run non-profit that preserves, protects, and promotes historic Washington Park in Albany. She previously served on the Board of Trustees for Historic Cherry Hill, a historic house in Albany’s South End.

Brown received her Master of Arts in Museum Studies from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Georgia.
