Trinity Alliance Hosts Nourish NY Food Distribution at United Way of the Greater Capital Region

On Friday, August 21, 2020, Trinity Alliance hosted a Nourish NY Food Distribution at United Way of the Greater Capital. Agricultural food products were distributed to 10 local nonprofit organizations who are addressing food needs in the Capital Region.

Governor Cuomo's Nourish New York Initiative provided $25 million in funding to food banks for the purchase of agricultural food products including produce, meat, eggs, seafood, and dairy products from New York State farms and processors.  Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region was one of nine organizations selected to receive a portion of the $4,357,115 designated to the Northeastern NY Region and reserved some of its funding to share with smaller community partners that would not have access to this resource.

404 households, over 980 individuals total, in the immediate Capital District received fresh vegetables, fruit, and dairy products from local farmers.

United Way of the Greater Capital Region helped connect Trinity Alliance with organizations addressing the critical food needs in our region and co-hosted Friday’s distribution site in its parking lot. The organizations who received food the food were 518 SNUG, Albany Housing Coalition, Inc., CJD Ministries, The Free School, Historic Mansion Hill – The Community Builders, Redemption Church of Christ Food Pantry, SEAT Center, St. Paul’s Center, Support Ministries, Inc. Capital Region, and Vanderheyden Care Management Program.
