"I know the feeling of being part of a family"

-Jonathan, Student, YouthBuild Schenectady

Jonathan did not have a great experience in the traditional educational system, he dropped out and was in need of direction. He found a perfect "home" at YouthBuild Schenectady at the SEAT Center.

A 23 year old single father with a  one year old daughter, Israh. Jon attends YouthBuild during the day and works as a security guard nights and weekends.

As a YouthBuild AmeriCorps member, Jon has also embraced service to his community and is always available to help someone else out, whether it be to attend a community meeting, give someone a ride, or help with a neighborhood cleanup.  Jonathan has dreams of becoming a Schenectady County Community College graduate in the field of Hotel Management/Hospitality and being an Ambassador for Schenectady Works.  Jonathan is also looking forward to finishing a book that he is currently writing called “The Build”, which is about his entire YouthBuild Experience.
