United Way is working to ADVANCE THE COMMON GOOD by making a difference in the areas of EDUCATION, INCOME and HEALTH. These efforts provide the building blocks of a healthy community. They also address the root cause of problems so solutions are lasting and everyone has the opportunity for a good life and brighter future.
United Way of the Greater Capital Region believes that to achieve positive impact in the greatest number of lives, we must act collectively to change the economic and social conditions that adversely affect our communities. We do this by identifying and working on the most compelling issues facing our region.
The result is changed lives, and improved community conditions, measured by
- local families who have sufficient income for food, housing and other basic needs
- children who start their lives healthy and enter school ready to learn
- teens who stay in school and learn healthy habits to succeed academically and in life after graduation
- families who have the support they need to stay healthy and strong through life's challenges
- senior citizens who have access to community services and social enrichment
