Civic Engagement: A United Way Strategy

United Way of the Greater Capital Region (UWGCR) defines civic engagement as a call upon the community to be engaged and committed in action to improve community conditions within our investment areas. 

This definition serves to address not only the mobilization of volunteers through hands-on activity, but also education and advocacy of and by the population around community issues and UWGCR’s role in creating and leading positive change.
