United Way of the Greater Capital Region held UNITED IN ACTION on Saturday, June 13, 2009. This one-day, hands-on event mobilized teams of volunteers to revitalize two local parks, one in Troy and one in Schenectady. Over 250 volunteers came together to work shoulder to shoulder and make a difference in our communities!
The projects were unique to the needs of each location and when tackled together, yielded tremendous changes to these parks and encourage safe places for families and children to play, learn and gather. Check out pictures to see the volunteers in action!
We would like to thank the sponsors of United In Action who provided the dollars needed to hold such an undertaking. Without their support, United In Action could not have happened and we are truly grateful. Please visit the sponsor page for a full listing.
We would also like to thank and acknowledge our community partners who's time, effort and dedication were integral to the success of this event. We appreciate all that they did for United Way, the volunteers and the community. Thanks goes to Mayors Brian U. Stratton and Harry Tutunjian of Schenectady and Troy, respectively; Carl Olsen and the Schenectady Office of General Services; Bill Mecejka and his crew, The City of Troy; Troy Parks & Recreation; George Rogers and his crew; and Colleen Goldston of Troy Weed & Seed
UNITED IN ACTION was a great example of all that can be accomplished when we LIVE UNITED!
