The problem
Many in our COMMUNITY struggle to earn a LIVING WAGE, support their FAMILIES and maintain ASSETS to meet their needs, from the point of entering the WORKFORCE through RETIREMENT.
The solution
Your partnership with United Way of the Greater Capital Region supports:
- programs that help families gain financial stability through asset and debt management, programs helping the homeless achieve independence, plus tax preparation and counsel for income-eligible families.

CREATING ASSETS, SAVINGS AND HOPE (CA$H) is a United Way partnership that helps income-eligible individuals and families gain immediate tax savings and achieve financial stability. For the 2010 Tax Year, this effort resulted in more than 13,000 tax returns being completed at no cost to filers and more than $18 million in credits and savings being returned to Capital Region families and to the local economy. Our commitment to the community
United Way of the Greater Capital Region is committed to making an impact in the areas of EDUCATION, INCOME, HEALTH and BASIC NEEDS. Research and experience show that these are building blocks for a strong community and a good quality of life for all.
Without a quality education, it can be difficult to earn income to meet basic needs. Lack of sufficient income can create barriers to education and good health. And poor health can make it a struggle to earn a living wage or access educational opportunities.
When our community comes together to give, advocate and volunteer around these building blocks, we can create lasting change. Together, we can accomplish far more than if we work alone. That's what it means to LIVE UNITED.
