United Way's Community Care Fund

Five ChildrenIt's the BEST way to do the MOST good with a single contribution. United Way tracks the results of donations to the Community Care Fund so donors are assured of accountability and results, measured in changed lives and a healthier community.

When you invest in United Way's Community Care Fund, the impact of your charitable dollar is multiplied by United Way's extensive network of human care service providers, partners and volunteers; by the latest data on social trends and conditions; and by United Way's legacy of more than 80 years of experience in bringing measurable positive change to the community.

When you invest in United Way's Community Care Fund you help ADVANCE THE COMMON GOOD by making sure United Way and its community partners have

  • The power to respond to new and emerging needs. For example, when the economy causes widespread job loss and insecurity, United Way can mobilize resources and direct attention to issue of income stability and access to support services. One result is United Way's leadership role in establishing the local 12-county United Way 2-1-1 telephone non-emergency information and referral service.

  • The tools to address the complex underlying cause of negative social conditions. For example, we know that giving children a healthy start requires conditions that include good nutrition, engaged parents and caregivers, school readiness, strong peer relationships, a stable family setting, crime-free neighborhoods and more. Your contribution to the Community Care Fund allows United Way to invest in the spectrum of programs that help young people succeed. One result is United Way's establishment of Family Resource Centers that provide one-stop, wraparound services for local families.

  • The ability to build on the diversity of strengths and talents in our community. For example, United Way has brought together all citizens with a vested interest in the success of their neighborhoods to rehabilitate local parks, instilling community pride and engaging residents in the common mission of improving life for all - from the youngest children to senior citizens. Learn about a recent project in Schenectady's Mont Pleasant neighborhood.
