What is the United Way 2-1-1 Northeast Region and how can it help me find the information I need?
2-1-1 is the three-digit dialing code designated in 2000 by the Federal Communications Commission to provide widespread public access to community information and referral services.
The United Way 2-1-1 Northeast Region operates out of a call center at Family and Children’s Service of the Capital Region and is supported by funding from the United Way of the Greater Capital Region. Operators are community members who are trained to evaluate a caller’s needs and access information from a database of hundreds of agencies offering thousands of services.
Our local call center serves 1.2 million residents in Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington counties.
