Community volunteers are preparing to return more tax dollars to people in the Capital Region this tax season.
On Saturday they started the season with a salute to the volunteer tax preparers who are trained and ready to help people receive tax credits and savings that can provide a financial boost during hard economic times.
Last year, this initiative called "The Cash Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program" returned more than 15 million dollars to capital region families and to the local economy.
“Every dollar we can put back to the consumers, particularly the lower middle income consumers who live more week to week and month to month than the very rich. We are putting more money into the economy where it needs to be that will grow all the other things in our economy,” Mike Breslin, Albany County Executive, said.
